The story of Joe Buck unfolds in his book “Lucky Bastard: My Life, My Dad, And The Things I’m Not Allowed To Say On TV”. Buck had the fear of losing his hair at a young age and eventually the possibility obsessed him. At the age of 24, he underwent his first hair replacement treatment at the New York City. After the initial procedure, he soon became an addict for the treatment. He did not miss even a single break between the NFL and the baseball slot.

hairIt was routine for him to fly to New York during the break for the hair plug procedure. Being a broadcaster he always wanted to remain in the best of his looks. In the fear of losing his job, he had opted for many hair plug procedures. During his eighth hair plug procedure, things went wrong. As soon as he regained consciousness, Buck was not able to speak. During the six-hour long procedure, a physician had fired his left vocal cord. A breakup with his wife also added to the stress. Stress from the personal and professional front augmented the nerve damage.

Dr. Bruce H. Haughey, a voice specialist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital discovered the paralysis of the vocal cords but was uncertain about Buck’s voice recovery. With a sense of embarrassment, Buck went on to tell the story of the invading virus to his superiors, friends and the media. After a few years, Buck explains the true episodes of his life publicly by way of a biography. The book encompasses episodes of his embarrassments and lies in the most candid way. Finally, Dr. Hughey referred Buck to Dr. Steven Zeitels, the director of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation for his treatment.

Danny Willet Crowned King At The Masters Tournament!

danny-willettIt certainly was a disappointing day for golf–loving Americans. Golf enthusiasts around the world were beside themselves with excitement as they watched some of the biggest names in golf take part in the annual Masters Tournament that was held during the first seven days of this month. The Masters Tournament or just The Masters is one of the four major championship events that happen in professional golf every year, the others being the PGA Tour, the European Tour and last but not the least, the Japan Golf Tour. As usual, the Augusta National Golf Club provided the spectacular playing field that is required as the venue for an event of such magnitude as this. The Masters Tournament also provides its winners with whopping prize money going beyond a million dollars.

As all golf enthusiasts would recall, American golf pro Jordan Spieth won last year’s 2015 Masters Tournament with a score of 270 (−18). His winnings were approximately $1.8 million. But this year, Jordan had to settle for second place as British golf player Danny Willet beat him and became the new Champion. Twenty-nine year old Willett, an English professional golfer with the European Tour, won his first major championship at the 2016 Masters Tournament at Augusta National after shooting a 5-under-par round of 67, which then allowed him to take advantage of a major collapse by Jordan Spieth. This was a historical moment in the US Masters as this surprise win allowed Willett to become the first European champion since 1999. A very incredible feat indeed!

Jordan is going to find it very tough to get the thoughts of this nightmarish game from his head. But, he will have to try hard to put the past behind him, as the hopes of American golf enthusiasts everywhere now lie only on him.
